The Seizures also Included Foodstuffs and Consuming Items
MCI continued its inspection rounds on electrical counterfeit materials in different regions of the Kingdom, resulted in the seizure and confiscation of more than seven thousands of electrical counterfeit parts offered for sale in the markets of Al Baha. The seizures varied between electrical connections and plugs not complying with the Saudi Standards and Specifications and they were considered a threat to the safety of the consumers. All the quantities were confiscated on the spot and then to be destroyed. Those involved were summoned for investigation and taking the legal procedures against them.
This came after MCI had recently implemented intensive campaigns on markets through its branches in the regions of the Kingdom to confiscate the counterfeit electrical parts. Large quantities of such parts were detected and then destroyed with the closure of the violating shops and taking the necessary measures against the violators.
Meanwhile, the inspection campaigns on the markets and the wholesale shops in the district resulted in detecting more than 3 thousand items of expired foodstuffs, including quantities of juices of different sizes, as well as 462 kilograms of expired powdered milk, along with quantities of consuming goods, included detergents. All the quantities were confiscated and destroyed on the spot.
MCI stresses that it would not tolerate in imposing the legal penalties on violators and those involved in the practice of fraud and selling counterfeit and adulterated commodities, and all that put the health and safety of consumers at risk.
MCI calls on all the consumers to report their complaints and observations to the Report Centre in the Ministry on the phone No. 1900.
