H.E. the Minister of Commerce and investment has issued a Decree for Establishing the Executive Council of the Consumer Protection Committee

​H.E. the Minister of Commerce and Industry has issued a decree appointing the Executive Council members of the Consumer Protection Committee, after the issuance of the Council of Ministers' decree No. (120) dated 23/02/1436 AH, amending the principles of the committee   containing that the Minister of Commerce and Industry may appoint the first Executive Council of the committee for three years, the said decree included appointing the Board of Directors, consisting of nine members, as follows:
 
1. Dr. Obaid bin Saad Bin Obaid Al Abdali.
2. Dr.  Musa`ad Bin Nasser Hamoud Al-Otaibi.
3. Dr.  Fahd Bin Mohammed Abdullah Al-Khudairi.
4. Dr.  Suleiman Bin Omar Al Samahy.
5. Dr.  Othman Bin Abdulaziz Nasser Al Munai`a.
6. Dr.  Rizain Bin Mohammed Hamad Al Rizain.
7. Mr.  Abdulaziz Bin Saleh Al-Khudairi.
8. Mr.  Suleiman Bin Hamad Al-Bathi.
9. Mr.  Saud Bin Rashid Al Asskar.
 
It is worth mentioning that this committee aims of taking care of the consumer`s affairs, interests and preserving and defending his rights, as well as adopting his issues before the public and private bodies, also protecting him against all types of fraud, counterfeiting, manipulation and deception related to all goods and services and protecting him as well against the exaggeration in raising their prices, besides raising the consumer`s awareness and enlighten him of the ways of preserving consumption.
 
The committee may do the following in order to achieve its goals:
 
1. Receiving the consumer`s complaints, related to fraud, cheating, counterfeiting and manipulation in goods or services or raising their prices extremely, as well as misleading through advertisements in newspapers and other media, and refer all that to the competent authorities, and doing the necessary follow-up.
2. Support the government authorities that are concerned in protecting the consumer, and inform them of all the issues that affect the consumer's rights and interests.
3. Preparation of studies and research, holding conferences, seminars, courses, also making exhibitions related to the activity of protecting the consumer, also publishing the results of such studies and research, in accordance with the Rules & Regulations.
4. Raising the consumer`s awareness in the ways of preserving consumption, as well as providing the necessary information and consultancy.
5. Suggesting proposals related to consumer protection with the necessary development.
6. Representing the consumer in local and international committees and bodies related to the consumer protection, as well as cooperating and participating in their activities, according to the statutory applied procedures.
