The Ministry of Commerce and Investment announced launching a new feature in the Electronic Discount System that allows shopping centers and shop owners to apply for the Seasonal Discount Licenses online, which are already specified by MCI, such as pre-Ramadan occasion, mid-year school vacation, National Day celebration and Riyadh Shopping and Entertainment Festival.
MCI pointed out that these discount and sale days will not be deducted from the annual discounts and sale balance available to the shops, indicating that this service will be offered in April 2018. This is in cooperation with Thiqa Business Services Company.
The Ministry explained that launching such feature in the Electronic Discount System comes as part of MCI efforts and endeavors to stimulate and enable the shop owners to avail from these seasons, which are characterized by an increase in the proportion of shoppers from the rest of the year. So they may take the opportunity to benefit from these occasions, where the discounts and sale will be wider and more comprehensive in such seasons.
The Ministry calls on all beneficiaries to access the website (
Sales.mci.gov.sa), then choose the type of licenses, and the seasonal licenses, register the trademark, or the commercial registration number or the agency and finally upload a list of the products included in the seasonal discount license.
