The Saudi Ministry of Commerce has achieved the Consumer Protection Association Award in the path of the best interactive government agencies in awareness campaigns to protect the consumer and educate him about his rights and duties.
Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, Minister of Hajj and Umrah in charge of organizing the Consumer Protection Association, handed the award to the Deputy Minister for Consumer Protection in the Ministry, Mr. Omar Al-Suhaibani, and the Advisor to the Minister of Commerce, the official spokesman, Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Hussein, during a ceremony held Tuesday evening, coinciding with the International Consumer Day, which falls on March 15 every year.
The Consumer Protection Association Award aims to motivate governmental and private organizations and the non-profit sector to actively participate in improving the consumer experience and contribute to achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 in improving the quality of life, creating a competitive business environment based on consumer protection, improving his experience and creating a consumer society aware of its rights and responsibilities.
It is noteworthy that the Saudi Ministry of Commerce was crowned with the Arab Government Excellence Award as the best Arab ministry among more than 5,000 Arab government participations, as a result of institutional excellence following the best international standards, adoption of innovation and development concepts, and performance governance to achieve the goals and strategies related to the vision.
The Saudi Ministry of Commerce also achieved a certificate of recognition of institutional excellence with a rating of (4 stars) from the European Organization for Quality Management, as the first government agency to obtain it in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to be among only four government agencies that received this certificate around the world.
