The Owner was Deemed Eligible for Compensation
MCI announced the utterance of a final judgment, upheld by the Appeal Court in Riyadh, to impose a fine of half a million riyals, on one of the premixed concrete and cement products companies in Riyadh. This company had supplied a premixed concrete, not complying with the Approved Standard Specifications, and thus caused the collapse of a citizen building.
The details go back when a citizen complaint has been received by the Ministry, stating the collapse and damage in the concrete base of his building. The Ministry took this case into consideration, and samples of the premixed concrete were sent to be examined at specialized laboratories. The results showed non-compliance with the Approved Standard Specifications.
The Ministry referred the case to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution, since it is a violation to the law of Anti Commercial Fraud, then the case had been referred to the administrative court. Consequently, a final judgment, upheld by the Appeal Court in Riyadh, had been uttered to impose strict penalties against the involved company, including a fine of half a million riyals, and to publish the judgment in two local newspapers on the company's expense, with the eligibility of the building owner to request the necessary compensation for the damage suffered.
MCI would like to emphasize that it will not tolerate in imposing the legal penalties on violators and those involved in violating the provisions of the Law of anti-commercial fraud.
