15 Thousand Counterfeit Sport Shoes for Famous Brands were detected as well
MCI Inspection Teams detected, through their Surveillance Rounds, large quantities of counterfeit sterilization substance "Dettol", estimated at 45 thousand bottles in a warehouse located inside a traditional house in Al Deira quarter at the center of Riyadh, where foreign labors were filling and labeling them to be marketed later to the shops, claiming that they are original. The site had been closed and all the seizures were destroyed. Those involved were summoned for investigation and taking the legal procedures against them.
The MCI Inspection Teams also detected another traditional house in Al Batha quarter including a warehouse used to store more than 15 thousand of counterfeit sport shoes bearing the brands of "Nike". During the inspection, it turned out that the site was being run by foreign laborers who were marketing such items through their own shop. The site was closed and all the quantities were confiscated.
MCI had announced, during the last period, the closure of a Rest House south of Riyadh, after raiding the site and detecting the labors counterfeiting the sterilizing substance "Dettol", where the Inspection Teams confiscated about 26 thousand plastic bottles, filled in a primitive method, contrary to the health conditions, through a container of counterfeit ”Dettol”. In addition, putting external labels bearing the original brand name and reading "Made in UAE", to be marketed later in the shops. All the confiscated quantities were destroyed.
MCI emphasizes that it will continue its Surveillance Rounds on warehouses, factories and commercial institutions, to ensure their regular works, and the absence of fraud and manipulation practices on consumers, and to stop exploiting the demand for purchase in selling and marketing of any counterfeit or adulterated products.
The Ministry stresses that it will not tolerate in imposing the legal penalties on violators and those involved in the practice of fraud, and all that puts the health and safety of consumers at risk.
