The Ministry of Commerce Defames a Citizen and an Expat Convicted of the Crime of Commercial Concealment by Selling Building Materials in Abha

​​The Ministry of Commerce has defamed a Saudi citizen and an Egyptian expat after a court ruling was issued proving their involvement in violating the Anti-Commercial Concealment Law. It has been proved that the citizen is enabling the expat to engage in an illegal trade activity by trading in building materials in Khamis Mushayt Governorate, Abha.


In details, he Ministry had received a tip from a citizen about the existence of a cover-up case at a commercial establishment engaged in selling building and construction materials. MC inspection teams had carried out the necessary investigations and found material evidences, proving the cover-up case, so the defendants were summoned up by MC, and then they were referred to the judicial authority.
 
The Ministry has published the contents of the court ruling issued by the Criminal Court in Abha, including a fine, closing the facility, liquidating its trade activity, cancelling the license, writing off the commercial registration, preventing the citizen of practicing the same trade activity, collecting zakat, fees and taxes, besides deporting the expat from the Kingdom after the execution of the ruling, and not to be allowed to return for work, also  defamation by publishing the ruling in a local newspaper at the expense of the violators.
 
The Ministry of Commerce urges all citizens and residents in all regions of the Kingdom to report cases of commercial concealment through the Ministry’s Consumer Call Center (1900), or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report, using the following link: mc.gov.sa/C-app, or via the Ministry’s website.
 
Notably, MC grants a financial reward to the informers about the crime of the commercial concealment, amounting to 30% of the total sentenced fines after collection, which may reach to one million riyals per one violator.
