During the past period, the Ministry of Commerce, as part of its competence to monitor and track e-commerce activity for preserving the consumers’ rights, had detected the violations of such e-stores. 

Accordingly, after the violations had been proved, they were immediately referred to the Committee in charge of Considering the Violations of E-Commerce System, which issued the relevant fines on the e-stores.

During the past months, the Ministry had blocked 5 e-stores in violation immediately, in coordination with the concerned authorities, as soon as the violations were detected, then they were referred to the concerned committee.

The Ministry of Commerce warns all consumers against buying from unknown websites and accounts through the social media. MC also calls on for buying from e-stores, accounts and online pages that have a commercial registration, or from those registered with “Maroof” platform, or from the well-known global sites. This is for ensuring and preserving the rights of the buyers.

The Ministry of Commerce would like to affirm and follow-up the application of E-Commerce System, and it will not hesitate to impose the legal penalties on any e-store in violation. Notably, the penalties may reach up to one million riyals, blocking and closing the offending sites, besides preventing them from practicing the trade activity.
