The Control Teams Monitored the Open Truck Transporting the Foodstuffs during a Hot Day under the Sun

The MCI Control Rounds resulted in the seizure of more than 4 thousand perishable foodstuffs in an open pickup under the sun, and these food items are highly affected by the temperature. This pickup had been prevented from marketing the foodstuffs to the shops and markets in Zulfi. All the quantities were confiscated and the distributor was summoned for investigation and taking the legal measures against him.

The Control Teams noticed the open truck running in the midday under the sun during high temperature, and it was loaded with large quantities of foodstuffs including "cooking oil” and "coconut", in addition to large quantities of canned tomato paste and "Magi" packets. The pickup had been stopped immediately before the items were being distributed in each of Al Zulfi and Majma`ah governorates.

This comes in light of the Control campaigns conducted by the Ministry in the said governorate to verify the quality of the products, and that resulted in the confiscation and destruction of a large quantity of materials and food commodities which constitute a risk to the consumers.

MCI emphasizes that it will continue its Control Rounds on warehouses and commercial institutions to ensure their regular work, and the absence of fraud and manipulation practices on the consumers, and to stop exploiting the demand for purchase in selling and marketing any adulterated or counterfeit goods.

MCI also stresses that it will not tolerate in the application of the statutory procedures on the violators and those involved in the practice of fraud and counterfeiting, and all that puts the health and safety of the consumers at risk.

MCI calls on all the consumers to report their complaints and observations to the Notification Center in the Ministry on the phone No. 1900.
