The Ministry of Commerce and Investment has started earlier to implement its seasonal plan for the Holy Month of Ramadan 1438 AH, by conducting intensive control tours on markets and shops in various regions of the Kingdom.

These tours aim at following up the availability of basic commodities for Ramadan and verifying their validity, also to ensure the absence of any commercial fraud cases, as well as to verify the commitment of the shopping centers of placing the price tags on the items, and ensure that the prices placed on the items and that with the cashier are matching, besides verifying the truthfulness of the promotion and sales, usually offered at the beginning of the holy month, and to take the legal measures against any violation, or against any effects on supply and demand.

Meanwhile, MCI has pointed out that the proactive field monitoring and inspection tours on markets showed the availability of all commodities and foodstuffs that the consumers usually buy in Ramadan, besides providing the suitable alternatives for each item. An increasing competition among selling outlets has been noticed as well. This may give the consumers a wide choice of the products.

MCI calls on all consumers to report any observations and to lodge their complaints to the Consumer Call Center (1900) or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report, via their smart phones round the clock.
