87 Thousand Commercial Registrations for Women in the Kingdom by the end of 1438 H, as announced by MCI

The Ministry of Commerce and Investment revealed that the total number of Commercial Registrations for businesswomen reached 87,575 by the end of 1438H.

Businesswomen in Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah and Taif have the highest percentage of Commercial Registrations granted to women in the Kingdom.

The total number of C.R. granted to women in various regions of the Kingdom reached by the end of 1438 H as follows: Riyadh (20,086), Jeddah (13,826), Makkah (5.098), Madinah (4.400), Taif (3,861), and the rest in different parts of the Kingdom.

Women's trading activities were concentrated in several trading sectors, notably: services, trade, communications and information technology, as well as real estate and land, operation, maintenance and cleaning of facilities, tourism, restaurants and organizing exhibitions.

The report mentioned that the Ministry of Commerce and Investment had taken recently a number of measures and programs to enable the women’s role in society and to give them a chance to participate in various aspects of economic activities, in order to increase the women presence in the economic and development activities, so that to promote sustainable development and for the realization of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which aims to activate women's participation in the National Economy. 

Meanwhile, the Ministry has worked on a comprehensive development of all its systems, procedures and electronic transactions to facilitate and ease practicing business and investment through reducing the formal procedures. Processing the engineering procedures and the electronic linking among government agencies resulted in the issuance of 5 electronic services in one step together with the issuance of the Commercial Registration, as follows: (Zakat and Income Subscription, Chamber of Commerce membership,  registration with the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, Consolidated Number of Enterprise 1700, registration with the General Organization for Social Insurance ). Also the Business Performance Improvement Committee (TAySEER) launched Meras e-platform and the Consolidated Service Center through e-linking with the relevant government agencies, which provides 40 e-services.

In addition, the Ministry has supported its field services for businesswomen by establishing Centers for women in various regions of the Kingdom, such as Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah, Dammam and Madinah.

With regard to enhancing the women's participation in the National Economy and to make it more effective, the Ministry enabled the women to participate in the Board of Directors and the Board of Directors of the shareholding companies, stressing the need for women to carry out and perform all trading activities without exception, and to be able to run their own business freely.
