MCI Inspection Teams at Zulfi Seized Electrical Devices Non-Conforming with the Saudi Standard Specification

A Verdict has been Issued Imposing a Fine against the Violating Est. with the Publication of the case in the Local Newspapers

The Ministry of Commerce and Investment has published a ruling issued by the Administrative Court in Riyadh, imposing penalties on a commercial Establishment in Al-Zulfi, involved in commercial fraud by trading with electrical devices non-confirming with the Saudi approved standard specifications. This is a clear violation to R&R because such items pose a risk to the safety of users.

MCI pointed out that the Establishment was found guilty of violating the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law. Therefore, the Administrative court issued a ruling for imposing a fine against the violating Est. and publishing the sentence in two local newspapers at the expense of the said establishment.

The details go back when MCI inspection teams seized a warehouse in Zulfi, containing quantities of electrical plugs non-conforming with the Approved Saudi Standard Specifications. Consequently, all the quantities in violation were confiscated and destroyed, since they pose a risk to the safety of users. Then the case was referred to the concerned authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures.

MCI would like to confirm the continuation of combating the Commercial Fraud by imposing penalties and punishing all those involved in possessing, offering or selling any counterfeit or fake goods. All necessary legal measured would be taken against the violators to stop them cheating or deceiving the consumers.

MCI calls on all consumers to lodge their complaints or observations through MCI Consumer Call Center (1900), or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report, via their smart phones, or through the Ministry's website.
