“PROTECTING THE CONSUMERS IS A RED LINE”, “STRIKE AN IRON FIST ON THOSE INVOLVED IN COMMERCIAL FRAUD” H.E. Dr. Al Qassabi Addressed MCI Inspectors

​FORTY-EIGHT EMPLOYEES WERE HONORED FOR THEIR DISTINCTIVE PERFORMANCE IN CONTROLLING THE COMMERCIAL FRAUD
 
H.E. the Minister of Commerce and Investment, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al Qassabi, confirmed in his speech to MCI field inspectors, not to tolerate the fieldwork and to strike an iron fist on those involved in fraud and counterfeiting practices, stressing that protecting consumers is a "Red Line".
 
During the honoring ceremony of MCI distinctive field inspectors from various regions of the Kingdom, H. E. said: "You have rendered giant and great efforts, our homeland is proud of you. I would like to thank you from the depth of my heart for your great efforts and outstanding field work. We must all work as one team with all government authorities to develop tools for combating commercial fraud and counterfeiting, by your great efforts we will be able to overcome all those fake practices ".
 
H.E. Dr. Al-Qassabi pointed out the important role of citizen and the private sector as key partners for government authorities in tackling all wrong business practices, pointing out that all citizens should be aware and bear full responsibility towards the protection of our homeland and its wealth. 
 
H.E. expressed his thanks and appreciation to all relevant government authorities for supporting the Ministry's efforts in combating commercial fraud and counterfeiting, especially the security authorities.
 
This ceremony took place for honoring 48 MCI field inspectors and (1900) staff, by H.E. the Minister of Commerce and Investment for their outstanding and distinctive efforts, and for carrying out their duties honestly and faithfully, resulting in detecting many cases of commercial fraud and counterfeiting, besides preventing the distribution of large quantities of corrupted foodstuffs and counterfeit goods to the Kingdom’s markets, special thanks to MCI staff for their efforts in the application of Commercial Agencies System, for dealing and tackling as well the consumer’s complaints, relevant to after sales services, such as warranty, maintenance and spare parts, etc.
 
MCI inspectors efforts contributed to the inspection of 58.714 commercial institutions, and the seizure and confiscation of more than (5,000,000) items of foodstuffs and consuming goods, in violation of Anti-Commercial Fraud Law, trademarks and commercial data, from the markets and shops in various regions of the Kingdom during 2016 AD.
 
Notably, H.E. the Minister had earlier honored a group of citizens from different parts of the Kingdom, who had lodged complaints and reported to (1900) various violations, their reports resulted in the seizure of more than 300,000 fake items, 87 tons of fish, shrimp and rotten dates before being distributed in the markets. H.E. conveyed his thanks and appreciations to those citizens, granting them as well certificates of appreciation and financial rewards for their cooperation with the Ministry.
 
The Ministry of Commerce and Investment confirms that it will not tolerate in taking legal measures against offenders and those involved in fraud and counterfeiting practices, and all those who expose the health and safety of consumers to risk, confirming that the violators would be referred to the competent judicial authorities to impose the legal penalties against them.
 
MCI calls on all consumers to lodge their complaints through the Consumer Call Center (1900), or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report, via their smart phones.
