A Saudi Ministerial and Commercial Delegation begins an Official Visit to Iraq

A Saudi Ministerial Delegation, headed by His Excellency the Minister of Commerce, acting Minister of Information, Chairman of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, arrived in Iraq today, on an official visit to the brotherly Republic of Iraq.

The delegation includes His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, the Governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, Dr. Sa’ad bin Othman Al-Qasabi, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Information, Foreign Trade Authority, Export Development Authority, National Company Leadership Program, Council of Saudi Chambers, Saudi Fund for Development and a number of businessmen, representing 22 of the major companies in vital and important sectors, such as: industry, energy, water desalination, real estate development, contracting, and others.

During the visit, the Saudi delegation will meet with His Excellency the President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih, as well as with the Head of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, also with His Excellency Mr. Ali Abdul Amir Allawi, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Coordination Council from the Iraqi side.

During the visit, two loan agreements will be signed for a project to establish metal grain silos to store wheat in the province of Diwaniyah, between the Saudi Fund for Development and the Republic of Iraq, and a loan agreement for the project of establishing Saqlawiyah Hospital in Anbar Governorate, between the Saudi Fund for Development and the Republic of Iraq.

This visit comes as a result of the meeting between His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, and the Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, where the work of the fourth session of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council had been reviewed recently. Notably, the Business Forum and the Saudi-Iraqi Business Council are held for the first time between the two countries.
