07 Dec 2016
The Saudi- Venezuelan follow-up Committee held its first meeting on Monday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Commerce and Investment in Riyadh. This comes within the joint meetings to strengthen the economic ties between the two countries.

This meeting is based on what has been agreed upon in the minutes of the first session hosted by the Venezuelan capital of Caracas in September 2015, through which it had been agreed to hold a follow-up meeting in Riyadh to present and discuss ways to promote investment between the two countries.

The Saudi side is headed by H.E. the General Supervisor of the Deputy Ministry for Foreign Trade, Mr. Abdul Rahman bin Ahmed Al-Harbi, while the Venezuelan side is headed by H.E. the Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia, Middle East and Oceania, Mr. Felix Plasencia. The talks are focused on the trade and investment opportunities between the two   countries in different fields, notably: Energy, Oil, Tourism and Education.

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Commerce and Investment chaired the Saudi side in a number of joint committees, including the Saudi- Venezuelan Committee, where the bilateral trade volume between the two countries reached SR 93 million in 2015 AD.
