MCI, 50 thousand Adulterated Consuming and Foodstuffs Items had been Confiscated in a Comprehensive Campaign on Warehouses in Riyadh

​Counterfeit Spare Parts, Tires, Cosmetics and Corrupted Foodstuffs had been Found
 
MCI carried out intensive inspection campaign on the central and southern quarters in Riyadh, resulted in the seizure and confiscation of 50 thousand counterfeit and adulterated consuming commodities, detected inside warehouses and apartments belonging to foreign labors. The seizures included auto parts which do not bear the country of origin and used tires, in addition to large quantities of cosmetics, bags, perfumes, shoes and counterfeit watches. Nine warehouses and one apartment were closed, as well as purchasing invoices and trade documents were detected. Those involved were summoned for investigation and taking the legal procedures against them. 
 
The details go back when the field monitors were carrying out a comprehensive survey on a number of central and southern quarters in Riyadh, in cooperation and coordination with the joint security campaigns, where they detected a truck carrying auto parts which do not contain data about the country of origin, so 2600 spare parts for various models were confiscated, in addition to the confiscation of 3700 used and expired tires from one of the warehouses.
 
The MCI Inspection Teams also shut down, during the Surveillance Rounds, 5 warehouses in Al Batha Buildings south of Riyadh, following the involvement of illegal labors in the storage and marketing of more than 20 thousand of bags and counterfeit leather items of famous brands such as "Louis Vuitton" , “Kutchi”,  "MK", "Chanel” and “Fendi” " and more than three thousand counterfeit watches for famous brands, too,  in addition to detecting 1900 Women Scarves  bearing counterfeit famous brand in a residential apartment in Al Khalidiya Buildings.
 
The MCI Inspection Teams monitored also  a warehouse without a license in Dar Al Baidah quarter, south of Riyadh, used for storing clothing and footwear, which does not bear any external sign and run by foreign labors, more than 2400 pairs of shoes were confiscated, that does not bear the country of origin, another warehouse was also detected, used for storing cosmetics and luxuries, more than 5 thousand cream containers were confiscated, and they were labeled with expiry dates that can be removed easily, and they were non-conforming with the specifications and standards. The said sites had been closed and those involved were summoned for investigation.
 
The MCI Surveillance Teams also noticed, in one of the warehouses, the presence of spoiled foodstuffs due to poor storage, where more than 1,500 kg of corrupted sweets and 450 packets of powdered juice were confiscated, in addition to detecting a truck loaded with corrupted foodstuffs including 1200 packets of expired spaghetti and vermicelli. 
 
MCI had carried out surveillance campaigns, during the last period, resulted in detecting labors involved in the storage of large quantities of adulterated and counterfeit consuming commodities, and corrupted foodstuffs inside warehouses and apartments at the center of Riyadh. Those involved were summoned for investigation and the necessary legal procedures had been taken against them.
 
The Ministry stresses that it will not tolerate in imposing the penalties on violators and those involved in the practice of fraud, and all that puts the health and safety of consumers at risk.
 
MCI calls on all the consumers to report their complaints and observations to the Notification Center in the Ministry on the phone No. 1900.
