MCI inspectors had detected illegal labors forging the country of origin of building paints inside a paint factory in Al Shifa industrial district, south of Riyadh. This factory is producing paints and industrial solvents in primitive ways and contrary to the health and environmental requirements, claiming they are American or Italian made, as well as the inspectors monitored large quantities of flammable hazardous materials inside tanks prepared for the same purpose.

All the violating quantities were confiscated with the closure of the plant because it poses a risk to the health and safety of consumers, while the owner was summoned for investigation and taking the necessary procedures against him.

During the inspection, It had been turned out that the materials were produced in a random way, through manual mixing by labors, and without the aid of laboratories, regarding testing, examining and weighing of chemicals to be used in such process, besides lacking of safety procedures in the site, also the presence of large quantities of anonymous chemicals, and storing raw materials randomly, in addition to large numbers of empty containers ready to be filled, and other products ready to be marketed and sold in the local markets in order to mislead and adulterate the consumer about their quality.

This comes at a time when MCI continues its inspection campaigns on factories and plants in various regions of the Kingdom, to check their work and to ensure the absence of fraud and adulteration practices on consumers.

The Ministry emphasizes that it will not tolerate in imposing the legal penalties on violators and those involved in the practice of fraud and counterfeiting, and all that put the health and safety of consumers at risk.
