The Ministry of Commerce has defamed the owner of a petrol station in Jeddah Governorate, after a judicial ruling convicting him of violating the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law, since 12 fuel pumps were found lacking calibration. Therefore, they had been closed immediately.
The Ministry has published a summary of the judicial ruling issued by the criminal court in Jeddah governorate, which includes imposing a fine on the offender and defamation by publishing the verdict in two newspapers at his expense.
This comes within MC efforts to monitor and follow up the commitment of fuel stations with the standard specification in all regions of the Kingdom, in order to protect the consumers and to control the violations related to the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law, and to impose the legal penalties against the violators, as the law provides for imposing penalties of up to three-year imprisonment, and a financial fine of up to one million riyals, or both, besides defaming the offender in two local newspapers at his expense, as well as deporting the illegal labors from the Kingdom, also preventing the violator of practicing the same trade activity.
MC urges the consumers to lodge their complaints and reports on the violating establishments through MC Consumer Call Center (1900), or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report, or via the Ministry’s official website.
