MCI destroyed more than 2000 expired foodstuffs and consuming items unfit for the human consumption after seizing and confiscating them in the markets of Kowai`eyia.
The owners were summoned for investigation and taking the necessary legal procedures against them.
This comes as a continuation of the Control Tours implemented by MCI inspection teams in various parts of the kingdom, in order to check the safety and validity of the goods offered for sale and to save the consumers from fraud and deception.
The items that had been destroyed included foodstuffs stored in a bad way, other items of unknown source and do not bear any commercial data such as sweets, nuts and different varieties of herbs, as well as perfumes that do not bear any commercial data.
The Ministry stressed that it will not tolerate in applying the legal procedures against the violators and those involved in the practice of fraud and all that put the health and safety of consumers at risk.
