These Teams are directly Supervised by Joint Operation Office for Consumer Protection
The joint inspection teams of the Ministry of Commerce and Investment, Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, represented by Riyadh Secretariat, and the General Authority for Zakat and Income, detected 30 violations during the inspection rounds on 130 commercial establishments, Saturday 30.12.2017.
The Joint Operation Office for Consumer Protection, which was formed by the decision of the Council of Ministers, consists of (18) government bodies, supervises and follows up directly the inspection tours in all regions of the Kingdom. This is to enhance consumer protection during the current economic reforms in the Kingdom.
The inspection tours in Riyadh covered 68 Establishments and 14 hypermarkets, in addition to the field survey of 48 gas stations, in order to verify the compliance with the Rules & Regulations and to ensure that VAT is not imposed on consumers before its enforcement date. Also to ensure the abundance of food supplies and control the violations related to illegal storage of goods and refrain from selling.
The inspection teams detected 6 establishments violating MCI regulations, and 16 establishments violating the regulations of the General Authority for Zakat and Income, including 3 Establishments imposed VAT before its enforcement, besides 8 Establishments violating the Municipal and Rural Affairs regulations . The owners were summoned for taking the necessary legal procedures.
The Ministry of Commerce and Investment, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, and the Authority of Zakat and Income urge all consumers to cooperate with them, and to lodge their complaints and reports through MCI Consumer Call Center 1900, or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report. For the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, the consumers can call (940) and for Zakat and Income, they can call (19993) for any violation related to VAT.
