The Ministry of Commerce and Investment has defamed the owner of foodstuffs wholesale and retail establishment in Qatif Governorate. The owner was found guilty of violating the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law by possessing and offering expired foodstuffs and by forging the expiry date of such items. This violation poses a risk on the health and safety of the consumers.
A ruling is issued by the Administrative Court in Dammam stipulating the closure of the Est. and imposing a fine of SR 80,000 against the owner, imprisonment for one month, and the sentence to be published in two local newspapers at the expense of the defendant.
Meanwhile, the seizures included more than 7,000 liters of expired juices, unsuitable for human consumption, and other quantities of items with forged expiry date.
MCI would like to confirm the continuation of addressing the violations related to Anti-Commercial Fraud Law by imposing severe measures and penalties against those who possess, offer or sell any expired foodstuffs.
