The Ministry of Commerce conducted over 2,600 inspection visits to bakeries, factories, outlets, and shops selling all types of bread in all regions of the Kingdom.
Inspectors ensured that bread products are readily available and that outlets adhere to consumer protection regulations. The inspectors also prevent bad practices such as reusing subsidized wheat flour for purposes other than those intended, e.g. repackaging, making and drying bread for using it as fodder.
These tours are part of the ministry's proactive plan for the blessed month of Ramadan and the Umrah season. The plan covers all markets and outlets in all regions of the Kingdom in order to track the availability of consumer goods and essential products that consumers buy during this period. The tours double-check the availability of adequate stock of these commodities and make sure they are good for consumption.
