MCI inspection teams, in cooperation with Azizia police station in Makkah, raided a warehouse used by illegal labors for producing fake perfumes, using substances of unknown origin. MCI inspectors seized more than 1.250.000 counterfeit and fake products in the said warehouse.
The seizures included perfume containers ready for sale, drums and equipment for packing and filling perfumes, tools for forging the commercial data. MCI inspection teams immediately shut down the warehouse and handed over the illegal labors to the police, to be brought later to the Ministry's Headquarters for taking the legal procedures against them.
The Ministry of Commerce and Investment warns against selling or marketing counterfeit or fake goods and commodities. Since this is considered a violation of the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law and Trademark System. Any violation will lead to penalties of up to three-year imprisonment, fines of up to one million Riyals, defamation, also deportation of the labors after the enforcement of their sentence, as well as suspension of trade activity. All that in accordance with the judicial sentence.
