The Ministry of Commerce carried out 14,164 field visits to markets and shopping centers across all regions of the Kingdom to verify their compliance with the regulations and conditions of offers and discounts related to the National Day 95 occasion.
The Ministry verified the discount licenses, their display to consumers, adherence to the licensed genuine discounts and offers, discount percentages, price tags or electronic price readers showing the price before and after the discount, and the clear disclosure of the exchange and return policy.
The Ministry’s inspection teams also issued 348 instant sales violations against non-compliant establishments in accordance with consumer protection regulations.
The Ministry urged consumers to verify the validity and legality of discounts and commercial offers by scanning the “barcode” shown on the license to view all data related to the discounts, including “type and percentage of discounts, their duration, and establishment information.”
