Arafah Day and all Holy Places are witnessing oversupply of foodstuffs and consuming commodities, such as potable water, juice, soft drinks, dairy products and readymade meals in the shops, stalls, refrigerated vehicles and roaming cars, loaded with foodstuffs to meet the needs of the pilgrims.
MCI is conducting intensive inspection rounds through its field inspection teams to ensure continued abundance of foodstuffs, and to check the commitment of the fixed prices, and the absence of any violation to Anti Commercial Fraud Law, all that for the protection of the pilgrims and consumers.
MCI has emphasized its keenness in providing all the pilgrims needs continuously, especially the foodstuffs and to be available at all Holy Places in suitable prices, including the basic commodities such as bread. MCI is keen to provide additional quantities of bread from the bakeries in Makkah and Jeddah. Besides, providing refrigerated vehicles loaded with foodstuffs in the Holy Places of Mina and Arafat, and this is part of its operation plan.
MCI has stressed, in its pilgrimage plan, on the importance of identifying the required consuming items of the basic foodstuffs in Makkah, Medina and the Holy Places, as well as to have pre-coordination with traders and suppliers for providing the required quantities of the basic food commodities during Hajj season.
