MCI Inspection Teams Seized 19 thousands Expired Foodstuffs and Children Candy in Makkah

MCI inspection teams seized more than 19 thousand expired foodstuffs and children candy in a wholesale shop in Makkah.

Meanwhile, MCI inspectors were able to stop selling and distributing such items to the consumers. Therefore, MCI immediately took the necessary measures and the owner of the establishment was summoned by the Ministry to complete the legal procedures, and then to refer the case to the public prosecution for taking the final sentence.

It is worth mentioning that the commercial fraud exposes the violator to a fine of up to one million Riyals or imprisonment for a period not exceeding three years or both.

MCI would like to confirm the continuation of its inspection and control rounds on warehouses and commercial establishments to verify their regular work and the safety of products, stressing that it will not hesitate to impose the legal penalties on violators and those involved in such practices.

MCI calls on all consumers to lodge their complaints through MCI Consumer Call Center (1900), or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report or via the Ministry's official website.
