12 Nov 2014
MCI has concluded the workshop on the two Conventions of Technical Barriers on Trade (TBT) and Sanitary and Phyto Sanitary measures (SPS), within the framework of the World Trade Organization, in collaboration between the World Trade Services Center at MCI and the World Trade Organization (WTO), which was held in Riyadh during the period 16-18 Muharram 1436 AH, corresponding to 9 -11 November 2014 AD, with the participation of a number of government and private sectors employees.

The participants focused on many regulations, standards and different trials that aim to maintain the human, animals and plants health, and the environment of each country, provided that the application of these regulations, standards and trials should not set up any unnecessary obstacles for the exporters and producers, or be an impediment to international trade. The two Conventions give the world states the right to implement the regulations, standards and measures that achieve the goals of protecting the human and plant health, as well as the safety and the environment.

MCI stresses its commitment to raise awareness and knowledge on these conventions, as they have a major impact in the protection of human health, animals, plants and the environment locally, and to take the best ways to achieve that without prejudice to the obligations of the Kingdom in the international trade agreements, in addition to keep the producers and exporters informed about the standards, trials and necessary procedures required for their goods to access the global markets without any barriers or obstacles.

MCI would like to urge the concerned employees of the government and the private sector to benefit from these workshops, in order to increase the awareness and knowledge about the International Trade Agreements.
