Inspectors from the Ministry of Commerce visited 3,581 construction materials stores and warehouses across the Kingdom in a single week.
The inspectors ensured that the stores and warehouses adhered to the quality of building materials and met the accredited standards of specifications.
The visits made sure that consumer protection laws were implemented in the building materials industry and that products complied with the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization's Technical Regulation for Building Materials.
The Ministry emphasized that it will continue to monitor the quality of local construction materials such as cement, reinforced steel, and ceramic. It will guarantee that these products bear the Saudi quality label. The inspection visits revealed that the stores' compliance rate was 99 percent.
The Ministry of Commerce and the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization collaborate to make sure that construction industry products adhere to accredited standards and specifications. In accordance with the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law, they also impose penalties on individuals and businesses engaging in illegal commercial practices.
