The Ministry of Commerce and Investment has granted 2,073 licenses for providing foodstuffs and catering services in the Holy Places during the current Hajj season 1440 H.

MCI inspection and control teams supervise the stationing of 503 catering trucks at their designated locations, also they follow-up and monitor 1,187 roaming vehicles loaded with foodstuffs, mineral water, juices and refreshments in the Holy Places, besides monitoring more than 383 outlets and food trucks  to check and verify the quality and validity of foodstuffs, as well as the absence of over-prices.

It is noteworthy that the Ministry holds a number of annual meetings with representatives of the private sector, in its early preparations for the pilgrimage season, to discuss aspects related to the food supply situation, in order to provide all the needs of the pilgrims. The number of outlets, trucks, roaming food trucks, and the quantities of meals provided in the holy sites are estimated annually. Cooperation and coordination is effected with the relevant authorities to ensure smooth food supply, in accordance with the approved plan.

MCI urges and calls on the consumers and the pilgrims to communicate and to lodge their complaints or observations through MCI Consumer Call Center (1900), or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report, or via the Ministry's official website.
