The Ministry will never ask you to reveal your account number, ATM card number, a password or verification codes
The Ministry of Commerce has issued a warning regarding fraudulent websites and individuals who pose as officials from the Ministry of Commerce in order to steal consumers’ banking information. The Ministry called upon members of the general public to avoid interaction with them.
The Ministry discovered a number of fraud cases in which consumers were duped into providing personal information to bogus websites that falsely claimed to be affiliated with the Ministry or would refund money.
The general public is warned against sharing their personal information on social media or with dubious websites. They are advised not to reply to international calls that employ shady software to obtain personal information, such as bank information, passwords or verification codes.
The Ministry is collaborating with other relevant authorities to apprehend the perpetrators of these crimes and has warned against disclosing private information to any party.
It emphasized that it will never ask for a consumer's private bank account number, ATM card number, password or verification codes.
It stated that reports of such incidents could be submitted via its numerous channels, including its toll-free number (1900), the Commercial Report App or its website
