MCI Detects an Expatriate Running two Warehouses for Forging Damaged Commodities by Putting Famous Brands on them in Riyadh

MCI Control Teams had detected two warehouses south of Riyadh run by an Arab expatriate, who used to collect damaged and returned commodities from commercial markets and then put them in new packets bearing famous brands, about 20 thousand forged foodstuffs and consuming items were seized, with the closure of the two warehouses, and those involved were summoned for investigation and applying the deterrent statutory procedures against them. 
 
That came after the Control Teams had carried out the necessary investigation for several days after suspecting two warehouses used for marketing forged commodities. The Control Teams suspected and traced an expatriate who proved to be violating the regulations and involved in commercial violations, through collecting damaged and returned foodstuffs and consuming items from commercial markets in Riyadh, Dammam and Hafer Al Batin, and then to be transported and stored in primitive ways, contrary to the health requirements, after that comes the re-packaging and hiding the apparent defects on the goods, in order to be marketed in the local markets. 
 
The confiscated items Included: more than 12 thousand items of various foodstuffs such as: (infant milk, powdered milk, oil, rice, mayonnaise, tea, etc.), in addition to more than 6,500 items of various detergents of famous brands. 
 
MCI had implemented control and inspection campaigns during the last period in Riyadh resulted in the seizure and confiscation of large quantities of forged foodstuffs and consuming commodities of famous brands, found in warehouses and apartments belonging to expatriates, prepared for the same purpose, where those involved were summoned for investigation and taking the statutory and legal procedures against them. 
 
MCI stresses that it will not tolerate in imposing the legal penalties against the violators and those involved in the practice of fraud, and all that put the health and safety of consumers at risk.
 
MCI calls on all the consumers to report their complaints and observations to the Notification Center in the Ministry through the toll-free number 1900.
