The Ministry of Commerce has defamed the owner of a fuel station after a judicial ruling was issued condemning him for violating the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law. It has been proved that the gas station is involved of selling fuel that does not meet the standard specifications.
The Ministry has published a summary of the judicial ruling issued by the Criminal Court in Riyadh, which includes imposing a fine on the owner of the gas station, closing the site for a month, besides defamation by publishing the verdict in a local newspaper at the expense of the violator.
The Ministry had responded to a complaint against the said gas station, located in Al-Janadriyah district, East of Riyadh. It has been proved that the owner is responsible for mixing 91 gasoline with other substances, such as gasoline 95, diesel and water. Accordingly, samples were taken for examination in specialized laboratories. The results showed that the said gas station is possessing and offering fraudulent petroleum products. Thus the case was referred to the competent authorities in accordance with the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law.
MC would like to emphasize that it will keep on monitoring the commitment of fuel stations in all regions of the Kingdom with the Rules & Regulations to protect the consumers, and to control any violations related to the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law, also to impose the legal penalties on the violators. Meanwhile, the regulations provide for imposing penalties of up to three-year imprisonment, fines of up to one million riyals or both, also defaming the offender in two newspapers at his expense, besides deporting the illegal labors from the Kingdom, as well as stopping and preventing the violator of practicing the same trade activity.
